It's always the same fight by the speaker. Where's the aux cable? Who has the lightning adapter for the iPhone? Three people are leaning over the shoulder of whoever's holding the phone, and the song someone asked for twenty minutes ago still hasn't played. By the end of the night the host has become both DJ and peacekeeper, scrolling through the phone trying to find a song someone requested but can't quite remember the name of.
But what actually matters? The answer is energy and dancing. The crowd knows exactly what it wants to dance to. It just has no good way to say so, and the DJ is working off a list that got thrown together the day before the party.
The playlist the whole party runs
You can now turn on a playlist for any event in Melda. Guests open their guest page and add the songs they want to hear. Everyone can vote songs up and down, so the crowd's favourites float to the top on their own, and the list is connected to a real Spotify playlist that the DJ opens and watches change in real time.
No guest needs a Spotify account. No app to install. They search for songs, add them and vote, all from the same page they used to RSVP. The DJ gets a finished list, ranked by the crowd's votes.
Try it — vote a song up, add one of your own, then flip to the host's view. Nothing you do here is saved.

How it works
- Guests suggest songs through a search box wired to Spotify. They type a song or an artist, tap to add, and it appears.
- Everyone votes, and the crowd ranks itself. Votes re-sort the list in real time, so the songs most people want float up the list.
- The host has a veto. They can approve or reject suggestions and remove anything that doesn't fit.
- Hand the DJ a link or a QR code. The DJ opens the finished list straight in Spotify. Guests can open it too, and relive the party the next day.
How to get started
- Open your event in Melda and turn on the playlist. Set whether guests can add songs and whether suggestions need your approval first.
- Add a few to set the tone, or just let the requests roll in as guests RSVP.
- Skim the votes and look over the list if you want. Most hosts barely touch it, because the crowd does the voting.
- Publish and share the Spotify link or QR code with your DJ.
A 150-guest wedding ends up with a dance floor that plays what the dance floor asked for, instead of a list the couple put together the day before. A company's annual party gets a playlist the whole team voted on, so the boss can't just play Guns N' Roses all night. A milestone birthday turns the guest list into the playlist, building the mood before the party even starts.
The playlist lives alongside everything else you're already running for the event. Pair it with a clean cost plan for the whole party, bring in co-hosts to share the planning, and the night more or less runs itself. Create an event in Melda and let your guests pick the music.
